Let’s get one thing straight: I am completely inept at styling hair. I just don’t have the knack, and the texture of my hair doesn’t help either. It’s incredibly fine and stick straight. I’ve never had to own a straightener (I can already see most of you guys glaring at me with jealousy).
It takes a lot, and I mean A LOT, of work to make any style stay for more than a couple of hours. No matter what, inevitably my hair returns to its naturally straight look. But I still try sometimes! When I want to get all fancy and add some curls, I usually make sure to add product after washing my hair, and don’t wash it the next day. Then I load it up with hair spray from Big Sexy Hair and heat up the curling iron. I back comb just a touch and then curl with the iron, then add more hair spray. Once I’m finished, I do a final layer of hair spray for good measure. Then I think maybe the curls will last about 4-5 hours. If I’m lucky and the weather is just right.
Enter, my new best friend. When I was on vacation in North Carolina, my friend Miranda used her styling wand to add some curl to my hair and it worked pretty well! Fast forward to a week later, and NuMe had posted a special offer for the 25mm Classic Wand on its Instagram page. Obviously, I couldn’t pass it up, and ordered mine in turquoise.
I used it for the first time the other day (following my usual curling prep format), thinking I was going to royally screw it up or worse, burn myself, and end up stashing it in my cupboard to collect dust until the end of time. Little did I know I was completely wrong.
Color me surprised! I was happy to find out it was a lot easier to use than I expected, even though holding the device over my head was a bit of a difference for me. The wand comes with a heat resistant glove, so I didn’t burn myself when using it, and although it’s a bit slower for me than using a curling iron, it still didn’t take as long as I thought it would.
On top of it all, the curls it created were bouncy and beachy even after layering more hair spray. Then the real test came. Would my curls last? If so, for how long? I was incredibly skeptical, and made sure not to run my fingers through the curls or pull down on them so I could see just what would happen naturally.
Once again, this NuMe wand made me a believer. The curls did fall, but in a delicate way, and lasted the rest of the day. The rest of the day! I’m so happy with this wand and I would definitely recommend it!
NuMe is a brand I’ve heard of from a number of trusted YouTube beauty gurus, so I knew what I was purchasing was a quality product with a great reputation. Make sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram for special offers posted regularly!
Have you tried NuMe products? Which do you recommend?
